Faceversaries
Nobody remembers their first day on Facebook. But the brand is nothing without its community, so we celebrated each individual’s time on the platform by taking them down their own customised memory lane. It’s also a great way to demonstrate the value of the platform.
Everybody on Facebook gets a Faceversary film to mark the day they joined. That’s over two billion films a year. Each of them personalised.
We’d been creating personalised films for several years and had gained a lot of knowledge about what kept people watching. So this time we kept it simple. We focused on bespoke numbers highlighting the number of years each person had been on the platform for. Then we gave their content a little TLC so they felt the love. As is always the case with films that look so simple, we’d paid extra attention to the details to guarantee each film looked as striking as it could be.
As you can see, we really had a lot of fun creating and crafting this number system with our partners over at Buck.
This was the final personalised video we made before retiring the system. After five years of working on multiple iterations of films for different moments across the year, this felt like a fitting way to move on to other forms of storytelling. With billions of these films out in the world it felt like we needed a fresh way to get Facebook’s message out.
